NEW DELHI: A Canada-based Indian-origin couple’s wedding celebration in India took an unexpected turn when a colour bomb malfunctioned, leaving the bride injured in Bengaluru.
Vicky and Piya, who travelled to India for their big day, shared a video of the mishap on Instagram, warning others about the potential dangers of fireworks at weddings. The footage captures the moment when a colour bomb, meant to enhance their photoshoot, misfired and struck the bride just as the groom lifted her for a picture.
"Our plan was to have stunning colour bombs go off in the background for a breathtaking shot, but one malfunctioned and hit us instead. We were also moments away from holding our baby," they wrote in the caption.
The clip reveals the bride’s injuries, including a burn on her back and singed hair. She was rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment before making it back in time to enjoy the reception.
"This post is to raise awareness about the risks of using colour bomb fireworks at events. We followed all safety measures, yet a malfunction still caused injuries. Whether or not you believe in the evil eye, we certainly do!" they wrote further in the comments.
