Well, seems like JD Vance has a lot to answer for!
The Vice President of the United States of America has been drawing quite a bit of flak after the ‘showdown’ between US President
Donald Trump and Ukranian President
Volodymyr Zelenskyy that took place in the White House.
What happened?
During an Oval Office press conference on Friday, President Donald Trump, VP JD Vance, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy argued heatedly. Tensions erupted shortly after a reporter asked Trump whether he had "aligned himself too much with Putin." When Vance touted the Trump administration's approach to "diplomacy," Zelenskyy pointed out that Putin had violated a previous ceasefire agreement. Vance then accused Zelenskyy of "disrespecting" the U.S. by "litigating in front of the American media" instead of accepting a ceasefire deal without any security guarantees.
After Zelenskyy said that the U.S. would "feel" the consequences of Russia's invasion in the future, a furious Trump interjected that the Ukrainian president was "not really in a good position right now" and was "gambling with World War III."
The press conference only deteriorated from there, with Trump and Vance raising their voices while addressing Zelenskyy and ending the meeting less than 10 minutes later.
After the ‘shouting match’ took place between Trump and Zelenskyy, an old photo of Vance has gone viral on the internet where he is seen with his wife and Second Lady Usha Vance.
What’s the issue then?
Vance is not wearing a suit!
One internet user shared a photo of Vance with his wife, which seems like his marriage or reception ceremony, donning a beige sherwani along with garlands around his neck. Usha too was in a saree, with garland around her neck. The photo was captioned as, “Vance didn’t put on a suit for his own wedding btw.”
The internet reacts:
The photo caused quite a stir on the internet, and netizens took it upon themselves to impart their opinion under the post.
One user wrote came to Vance’s rescue and wrote, “He wore appropriate attire for the situation at hand. Zelenskyy did not.” When one internet user commented, “you wear the appropriate attire for the situation,” calling it a failed post, the author of the post clapped back, “A commander in chief, out of solidarity with his people, doesn’t wear a suit when his country is at war. Failed morals.”
While someone else wrote, “not y’all purposefully misunderstanding her point. VP understands when a suit isn’t right for the occasion, yet he and his team berated zelenskyy. Hypocrite much??” another added, “oookay, but that was not a diplomatic event. I get that the dude’s country is in war, but let’s not forget about basic etiquette when you enter the white house. Honestly i get it, but then again, i don’t.”
However, it's noteworthy that Vances had two ceremonies for their wedding. Along with an Indian ceremony, Vances held one Christian ceremony as well, where JD was seen donning a suit.
JD Vance who met Usha Vance at Yale University got married to her in 2014. The couple has three children: Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.
