Punjab Kings defend lowest-ever total in IPL history with sensational win over KKR

Punjab Kings achieved a historic feat by defending a meager total of 111 against Kolkata Knight Riders, securing a 16-run victory in a stunning turnaround at Mullanpur. Yuzvendra Chahal's exceptional bowling, with figures of 4 for 28, dismantled KKR's batting lineup, while Marco Jansen's early strikes further contributed to the collapse.

NEW DELHI: Punjab Kings etched their name in the history books on Tuesday by defending the lowest total ever in the Indian Premier League, pulling off a remarkable 16-run win against Kolkata Knight Riders at Mullanpur, Chandigarh.
After being bowled out for a mere 111 in 15.3 overs — largely seen as a hopeless total in T20 cricket — Punjab's bowlers staged a stunning comeback to dismiss KKR for just 95 in 15.1 overs.

The effort broke the long-standing record held by Chennai Super Kings, who had defended 116 against the same Punjab franchise in 2009.
Who's that IPL player?
Yuzvendra Chahal was the star of the night, returning figures of 4 for 28, including the key scalps of Angkrish Raghuvanshi (37), Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, and KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane.

The collapse began early, with Marco Jansen (3/17) and debutant Xavier Bartlett (1/30) striking in the first two overs to remove openers Sunil Narine and Quinton de Kock.
Although a 55-run stand between Rahane and Raghuvanshi briefly steadied the chase, Chahal’s double-strike opened the floodgates.
Andre Russell (17) threatened late with two sixes in an over off Chahal, but Jansen bowled him to seal Punjab’s historic victory.
