Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson have quickly become one of the most talked-about pairs in the sports world—not just for their unique relationship but also for how it intertwines with Belichick's latest professional chapter at the University of North Carolina (UNC). As Belichick steps into his role as the Tar Heels’ head football coach, he's not only preparing his playbook but also bracing for the challenges of today’s digital landscape.
Amid online backlash, Jordon Hudson asked UNC to defend Belichick from disturbing social media harassment
At 72, Bill Belichick is no stranger to pressure. But 2024 marks the first year in nearly five decades that he spent away from the sidelines, only to return in a collegiate setting where scrutiny can be relentless. The rise of social media commentary, often unfiltered and unforgiving, hasn't gone unnoticed. In fact, Belichick himself expressed serious concern in an email to UNC officials over the potential for defamatory remarks. “I cannot believe that UNC would support my being called a ‘predator,’” he wrote, following his girlfriend Jordon Hudson’s query to university staff about filtering online abuse.
According to The Athletic, Hudson, 24, had asked UNC’s social media team on February 13 if they were actively monitoring and removing slanderous commentary about Belichick. “Is there anyone monitoring the UNC Football page for slanderous commentary and subsequently deleting it / blocking users that are harassing BB in the comments?” she asked. Her concern stemmed not only from online trolling but also from how the optics of their age-gap relationship might affect Belichick’s public perception.
The university was quick to respond. Robbi Pickeral Evans, UNC's senior associate athletic director for external affairs and strategic communications, reassured the couple by stating, “UNC would NEVER support” such harmful language, and confirmed that inappropriate comments were being regularly hidden or deleted.
Their relationship, which began on a flight to Boston in 2021, has evolved significantly. Following Belichick's split with longtime partner Linda Holliday in 2022, his bond with Hudson deepened. Reports have even suggested that the couple has "discussed marriage," underscoring how seriously the two are navigating both their private and public lives.
The conversation around nepotism also surfaced when Belichick’s son, Steve, was appointed as the team’s defensive coordinator. Hudson again voiced her concern: “Though Steve Belichick is in fact Bill’s son, he should be depicted and represented as his own established, credible entity as opposed to an extension of Bill.”
Beyond handling social optics, Hudson has taken an active role in shaping Belichick’s brand. According to PEOPLE, she filed 14 trademark requests on his behalf, including iconic phrases like “Do Your Job (Bill’s Version)”—a clever nod to Taylor Swift’s rebranding strategy. These filings signal a new direction in Belichick’s off-field legacy.
With coaching pressures ahead and a highly visible personal life, Bill Belichick’s UNC chapter is already stirring headlines—and Jordon Hudson is clearly standing firmly in his corner.
