Queen of the Ring is an American sports movie based on the US-based female pro wrestler, Mildred Burke, who changed the scenario of professional wrestling forever. The movie is set in a time when pro wrestling for women was illegal all over the United States.
The film is about a small-town single mother, who dominates America's most masculine sport and becomes the first million-dollar female wrestler in the history of US sports.
The much-awaited biopic has been garnering a lot of fame since it was out on March 7, just a day before International Women’s Day. The film is written and directed by Ash Avildsen. It is based on the book The Queen of the Ring: Sex, Muscles, Diamonds, and the Making of an American Legend by Jeff Leen, and Burke's manuscripts.
Mildred Burke was a remarkable figure in the history of professional wrestling. She was a charter member of the WWE Hall of Fame's Legacy Wing, the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame, the Women's Wrestling Hall of Fame, and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame.
The film Queen of the Ring was previously premiered at the Buffalo International Film Festival on October 15, 2024. But, it was released in theaters in the United States on March 7, 2025, by Sumerian Pictures.

She has also reprised the role in the Arrowverse shows The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl. Rickard could be seen portraying the role of the trailblazing women wrestler. Rickards's breakthrough role came in the year 2012 when she appeared as Felicity Smoak in The CW television series Arrow, which is based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow.

In March 2014, Rickards was cast in the sequel of Cowgirls 'n Angels, entitled Cowgirls 'n Angels: Dakota's Summer, as Kristen Rose. She played the sister of the film's protagonist, Dakota, portrayed by Haley Ramm. In 2015, she also featured in a supporting role in the Oscar-nominated film Brooklyn.
