R Madhavan reacts after being nominated as new FTII President by Union Minister Anurag Thakur

Actor R Madhabavan, who recently bagged the National Award for Best Feature Film for his directorial debut 'Rocketry: The Nambi Effect', has been nominated as the president of the Film and Television Institute of India and as chairman of its governing body. The Union youth affairs and sports minister Anurag Thakur took to hiw Twitter handle (now X) and congratulated Madhavan with a post and wrote, 'Heartiest congratulations to Madhavan ji on being nominated as President of FTII and Chairman of the governing council. I'm sure that your vast experience & strong ethics will enrich this institute, bring positive changes, & take it to a higher level. My best wishes to you.' The actor responded to Anurag Thakur's tweet saying, 'Thank you so very much for the honour and kind wishes Anurag Thakur ji. I will do my very best to live up to all the expectations' along with a couple of folded hands emojis. During a conversation with Times Now, Madhavan reacted to it saying, 'I have ever been greedy for power, position or money. I come into this distinguished post with the eagerness of a novice. To me, it is a whole new world and I want to prove myself up to the job. It is still to sink in. I am still gathering my thoughts and trying to understand the importance of it. There have been many highly distinguished Presidents of the FTII, and far more qualified than me, like the legendary Mr Roshan Taneja, Mr Shyam Benegal, Mr Mrinal Sen, Mer Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Mr Shekhar Kapur.
