BANGALORE: Chief minister
BS Yeddyurappa took a cue from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who led the nation in watching the Indo-Pak semifinal. He called it a day early afternoon and watched the match right from the toss.
Not to be left behind, Yeddyurappa's cabinet colleagues also took a break. Most employees of Vidhana Soudha, Vikasa Soudha and MS Buildings went home before the match began.
Yeddyurappa, who watched the match with his family members, cheered every Indian boundary and discussed the fall of wickets.
Yeddyurappa's political secretary B J Puttaswamy, who had planned to hold a press conference to release documents on alleged corruption by former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, had to cancel his programme.
Campaigning stalled
Campaigning was affected in the three assembly segments that will go to the polls on April 9. With voters deciding to stay indoors, the leaders also decided to take a break. Kumaraswamy, who has taken winning Channapatna as a challenge, continued his campaign.
Hapless cops
Police guarding Vidhana Soudha and Vikasa Soudha were the only ones who could not catch the excitement. Their only source of information on the match was their mobiles.
