Bhopal: Three persons from two families, including a man and his two-year-old son, were killed and three injured when two cars collided head on in Chhatarpur district late Saturday night. All the survivors are in critical condition.
According to eyewitnesses, one of the cars swerved to avoid a dead buffalo lying on the road and veered into the next lane, giving no chance to either driver to avoid the accident.
Police identified the deceased as Gajendra Ahirwar, 35, his toddler son Yash, and Amar Wadhwani, 53.
The Wadhwani family — Amar, his wife Ritu Wadhwani, 51, and their son Mayur, 29 — were traveling from Bhopal to Chhatarpur in an Ertiga. At the same time, the Ahirwar family — Gajendra, 48, his wife Aarti Ahirwar, 35, and their son Yash — were headed to Banda from Chhatarpur in an Omni.
The accident occurred near a dhaba in Badamalhara area, 280km from Bhopal and 50km short of Chhatarpur, around 10pm on Saturday. Locals and police rescued the victims and took them to hospital where three were declared dead.
Aarti and Ritu are being treated in Gwalior, 250km from the accident site, while Mayur is hospitalised in Chhatarpur.
