Fire breaks out at Chawri Bazar in MP's Gwalior

A fire broke out Thursday morning in the Kalagopal building, Gwalior's Chawri Bazar, starting from a ground-floor thread factory and spreading to all floors. Firefighters contained the blaze, but two were injured in a cylinder explosion. The building had seven flats with gas cylinders, some of which exploded. Another fire occurred earlier in Gwalior’s Khasgi Bazar area.

NEW DELHI: The blaze that erupted at the building in Gwalior's Chawri Bazar area on Thursday morning has been contained, according to Janakganj police station in-charge Vipendra Singh.
"Kalagopal building in Chawri Bazar has caught fire. Police reached the spot immediately and the fire department was also informed. This is a four-storey building and the fire started from the ground floor where a thread factory is being run. The fire slowly spread to all floors. The fire has been brought under control," Vipendra Singh said.

The police official confirmed that two firefighters sustained injuries during a cylinder explosion.
He further stated, "There were seven flats in the building, which had gas cylinders. We took out some while some blasted in the fire. Two of our firemen were injured in the last cylinder blast. They have been sent to the hospital for treatment."

Khemraj Meena, public relations officer (PRO) of Western Railway (Ratlam Division) stated, "The train was heading towards Bilaspur from Bikaner, and the incident happened in an area between the Tarana and Tajpur area. The fire brigade teams doused the fire."
