KOTA: Male and female candidates Saturday faced strict measures in Kota during the Prison Guard Direct Recruitment Exam conducted by Staff Selection Board, as exam staff removed hooks and zips from male candidates' trousers at examination centres, and female candidates reportedly paid for changing clothes at Sulabh Shauchalya near certain centres.
The examination took place in two shifts, from 10am to 12pm and 3pm to 5pm, under security protocols including CCTV monitoring, biometric face scanning, videography, and metal detectors. Officials denied entry to late arrivals, and admission required strict adherence to all specified protocols.
At Nayapura Bagh School examination centre, male candidates visited nearby shops to modify their trousers after being instructed to remove hooks and zips. "I have appeared at several examinations for job, but nowhere have I been asked to remove trousers hook," said candidate Ishyant Panchal, who got his trousers hook removed at a nearby tailor shop.
Female candidates encountered difficulties at the municipal corporation's modern restroom near Nayapura Bagh School, where staff demanded payment for changing clothes. Police intervened following complaints and instructed staff to stop charging. Examination centre in-charge Anju Jain stated, "metal is not allowed in the centre so all metallic items were removed. Separate facility for changing clothes for female candidates was set up," she said, questioning why the female candidates moved to public toilets for change.
In a separate incident at Bundi, over 24 examination candidates were injured following a bee attack at an examination centre under Bundi Sadar police station on Saturday morning. The incident occurred when candidates waiting to enter a TT College examination centre were attacked by a swarm of bees. Among the injured, 21-year-old Sonia Gurjar from Lileda village required intensive care treatment at Bundi district hospital. Despite severe injuries, Sonia attempted the examination but fainted after answering some questions and was taken to hospital.
