BHOPAL: A 25-year-old man died allegedly by suicide in the Gautam Nagar slums late Friday night, leaving behind a video in which he accused his wife and her family of driving him to take the step. The video, recorded near the noose and later circulated on social media, is now central to a police investigation.
The deceased, identified as Abhishek Bachale, worked as a private driver and lived alone in a shanty near his parents' house. He had married a woman from Aishbagh four years ago after a love affair. The couple have a daughter.
Ashoka Garden police registered a case and are conducting further investigations based on the contents of the video.
Police said on Friday evening, Abhishek dropped off his wife and daughter at their home in Aishbagh. Late at night, Abhishek reportedly recorded and uploaded a video near the noose, in which he accused his wife and in-laws of being responsible for his death. The video went viral on social media, prompting family members and neighbours to rush to his home, where they found him hanging.
Police said that initial inquiries with the family revealed that Abhishek and his wife frequently quarrelled. His wife filed a police case against him in the past, which is under trial.
SHO Ashoka Garden Hemant Shrivastava said that police are continuing the investigation based on the contents of the video. The wife of the deceased already filed a police case on charges of cruelty against him. Further action will be taken after recording statements of family members.
