Koraput: Around 10 platoons of police force have been deployed on the Ram Navami procession route as well as vulnerable areas in Jeypore. Senior police officials have been assigned to monitor both security and traffic management as around one lakh people are expected to attend. "CCTV coverage along the rally route has been increased and key points will remain under round-the-clock surveillance," said SDPO (Jeypore) Parth Kashyap.
The main Ram Navami rally will start at Powerhouse Chowk and end at Dussehra ground after covering a 4-km route. The path has been decorated and a number of cultural performances are expected to be held along the way.
To promote safety and harmony, police have issued a set of dos and dont's to the organizing committee. Consumption of alcohol during the celebration is strictly banned, and the display or use of traditional weapons or any kind of arms is prohibited. "Participants are advised not to wear ornaments to avoid any untoward incident," the SDPO added.
To accommodate the rally and ensure traffic flows smoothly, significant traffic diversions will be enforced. All liquor shops in the district will remain closed on Sunday as a preventive measure. Heavy vehicles will be diverted from 12 noon, while four-wheelers will be restricted from accessing major junctions from 2 pm onwards.
Several areas, including the stretch from Powerhouse Chowk to Main Traffic Chowk, will be declared "No Vehicle Zones" from 2 pm , the SDPO said.
