Shimla: Eight Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools will be set up soon in Shimla district, with one school in each assembly constituency. Deputy commissioner Anupam Kashyap said on Thursday that the Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School scheme is an ambitious project of the state govt in the education sector. The land for these schools was selected in eight assembly constituencies, and the relevant departments are working to complete the remaining formalities soon to commence further action, he added.
These schools will be set up near the Radisson Hotel in Shimla Urban constituency, Jalog in Shimla Rural constituency, Saraswati Nagar in Jubbal Kotkhai, Gajedi in Theog, near Palakn on Barara Road in Rohru, Bodna in Chopal, Chamiyana in Kusumpti, and Shingla in Rampur.
The schools will feature modern amenities like high-tech smart classrooms, sports fields, indoor stadiums, racing tracks, and swimming pools. Each school will cover an area of 50 bigha and provide hostel facilities to students. Deputy director of higher education, Lekh Ram, stated that after land selection, a layout will be created and uploaded on the Parivesh portal as the department is working to complete all formalities for this project.
