'Good Bad Ugly’ box office collection day 2: Ajith’s film sees sharp drop despite grand opening
Ajith Kumar’s action drama 'Good Bad Ugly', helmed by director Adhik Ravichandran and co-starring Trisha and Arjun Das, stormed into theatres on April 10 with an explosive opening. The first-day collections reportedly touched Rs 28.5 crore in Tamil Nadu alone, driven by packed early morning and noon shows, along with massive fan celebrations across the state.
Sharp decline in day 2 earnings
However, the euphoria didn’t quite carry over to Day 2. According to Filmibeat, early box office estimates suggest the film may have earned only around Rs 10 crore on Friday, marking a significant drop of nearly 65% from its opening. Industry trackers point to stiff competition in other regions and fading buzz among general audiences as factors contributing to the sudden dip in numbers. With the weekend ahead, the film still has a window to regain momentum provided it pulls in family crowds and repeat viewers.

She expressed concern over those who derive happiness from spreading meaningless and hurtful content about others online. Her words struck a chord with many, especially those familiar with the darker side of social media interactions. She emphasized how such behavior reflects more on the person spreading hate than on those targeted.

#GoodBadUgly Is a Fun Crazy Masala Entertainer. A Treat for all #AjithKumar Sir Fans. Congrats @Adhikravi and the team and Best wishes for a Mass Blockbuster
With Good Bad Ugly, director Adhik Ravichandran crafts a loud, chaotic, and unapologetically fan-centric tribute to Ajith Kumar. While the storytelling may feel over-the-top, the film thrives as a celebration of Ajith, with nearly every scene packed with nods to his past blockbusters. Adhik’s fan-service-heavy approach isn’t entirely new—Karthik Subbaraj took a similar route with Petta—but unlike that film’s relatively subtle treatment, this one goes full throttle with its references. Still, the outcome is clear: for Ajith fans, it’s a joyous ride that hits all the right nostalgic notes.

Theatre owners accuse 'Good Bad Ugly' distributor for demanding higher ticket price for Ajith's film
According to News 18, theatre owners in Madurai have alleged that Romeo Pictures, one of the film's distributors, has been coercing them to sell tickets at an inflated rate of Rs 500. This is significantly higher than the regular ticket price of Rs 190 set for multiplexes and other standard screening venues. Theatre exhibitors claim that Romeo Pictures threatened to withhold the early morning 9 am show if they did not comply with the increased ticket rates. This has led to tension among theatre owners, who are now caught between satisfying fans and resisting what they perceive as unethical and unreasonable demands. The insistence on such steep pricing, especially in a market known for its sensitivity to affordability, has sparked concern within the industry.
