NEW DELHI: Police are investigating a case of sexual assault on a five-year-old girl allegedly inside a school bus in Aug-Sept last year. Police haven't made an arrest yet.
The accused is allegedly a foreign national and has diplomatic immunity. According to the complaint, the accused is 19 years old.
Police have written to the ministry of external affairs in this connection, and the ministry has taken up the matter through legal channels, sources said.
The Greater Kailash-I police station registered an FIR on Sept 18 after receiving a complaint from the girl's parents. "Around the last week of Aug 2024, our daughter complained of frequent urination along with pain in the same area. It continued for a few more weeks. A boy caused injuries to her private parts. She saw him twice while travelling by bus from school," the girl's parents said in the FIR.
The survivor's family alerted the school principal, after which police were informed. An FIR under
Pocso Act was registered.
The family has also alleged that there was inaction on the school's part and that they were advised to change her school.
