NEW DELHI: A day after 70-year-old Nirmal Madan was murdered in Amar Colony in south Delhi, the police said that the prime suspect, 18-year-old Badal, a domestic help, is still absconding. However, they reported that Badal earlier worked a a domestic help in a neighbouring house in Lajpat Nagar.Investigations in the case have shown that the Badal been working at Nirmal Madan's house since April 27.
He got to know of the job from a board displayed outside Nirmal's office. ������We have also learnt that Badal worked with one Tara Dutt in Lajpat Nagar before he started work at Nirmal's house,'' said a senior police officer.
������Dutt was called in for questioning and has given us some vital clues. Sketches are also being prepared based on the description provided by persons who had seen Badal. Some of Badal's local contacts in Delhi have also been picked up for questioning and another police team has been sent to West Bengal, where he hailed from. So far, the investigations have shown that Badal came to Delhi few months ago and was working as domestic help in various places. We are trying to establish all the places where he had worked earlier,'' said the police officer.Badal has reportedly been missing since the murder was discovered. ������Cash and valuables, including jewellery worth several lakhs has been missing. The victim's mobile phone has also been filched. We have put the mobile phone under surveillance and there have been some positive leads,'' said a police officer.On Tuesday morning, the body of 70-year-old Nirmal Madan was found lying in a pool of blood in her house in Dayanand Colony. Madan lived alone on the ground floor of the three-storeyed house. She had been running a property dealing business and a PCO shop from here after the death of her husband. Madan's two sons, Kishan and Harish, had died in 1996 and 1998 respectively while her husband Ram Lal Madan passed away in 2000. There was a property dispute within the family as the first floor of the house was occupied by her eldest daughter-in-law and her three daughters. The second floor was occupied by Madan's grandson Sunny. Several rooms in the house were rented out and police are also questioning the tenants.
