GMC partners with Fortis to enhance cardiac services
Panaji:Goa Medical College has tied up with the cardiovascular and thoracic surgery council, Fortis Healthcare Ltd, India, and Cardiac Sciences to strengthen the cardiovascular and thoracic surgery department at GMC.
Health minister Vishwajit Rane announced the strategic collaboration with a renowned cardiovascular surgeon based in Bengaluru and î ”chairman of the council, Dr Vivek Jawali.
Rane said Dr Jawali and his team will provide expert guidance and specialised knowledge to enhance GMC’s cardiac services. “Discussions are already initiated,�?Rane said on Wednesday.
The health minister on Wednesday conducted a surprise inspection at the super speciality block (SSB) at GMC and visited the oncology ward, where he engaged with patients, including children and their families. He said govt is looking at improving the diet of the patients, especially children.
“To ensure they receive both nutritious and tasty meals, we will work with Sodexo to curate a special menu for them,�?Rane stated. He met with the dean of GMC, Dr S Bandekar; nodal officer SSB, Dr Uday Kakodkar; and head of cardiology, Dr Guru Prasad Naik, to understand issues at the hospital and to strengthen treatment and delivery of services to patients.
“The discussion focused on eliminating delays, optimising resources, and providing a top-notch treatment experience to patients,�?Rane said. He added that a well-coordinated system is essential for effective patient care.
