Panaji: The high court of Bombay at Goa on Wednesday issued a notice to town and country planning minister, Vishwajit Rane, in a public interest litigation seeking the quashing and setting aside of orders under Section 17(2) of the Goa TCP Act 1974 in respect of land at Karapur.
The division bench of the HC, comprising Justice M S Karnik and Justice Nivedita Mehta, also issued notices to Errichter Infra Pvt Ltd, Shamba Dhavaskar, the Goa State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), and The House of Abhinandan Lodha in the PIL that was filed by Pravin Shedgaonkar and others.
The petitioners are seeking directions to restrain further development at Karapur without obtaining prior environmental clearance according to the 2006 EIA Notification. They are also seeking an order to clear the lands of any development and restore it to its original condition.
The HC called for replies to be filed by the parties concerned within three weeks.
