UP man batters wife and 3 kids at Calangute home, arrested

Calangute: A 30-year-old Uttar Pradesh native residing at Gauravaddo, Calangute, was arrested on Saturday for brutally assaulting his 22-year-old wife and three minor children, aged 7, 5, and 2, around 2.30pm.
Police said the wife and one of the children were assaulted on their heads with a wooden stick. The accused also flung carpentry tools at the family members, including the other children, which caused them injuries on their hands. Two of the children were discharged after treatment.
After being arrested, the accused was lodged at the Institute of Psychiatry & Human Behaviour for evaluation and treatment. Calangute police have registered an offence under various sections of the BNS, and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act, 2003.
