Minister Patil outlines steps for appointment of CMC commissioner
Haveri: Shivanand Patil, the minister for textiles, sugarcane development, sugar directorate, agriculture marketing, and Haveri district in-charge, stressed that officials should work enthusiastically to improve Haveri municipality's administrative system. He cautioned that officers and staff neglecting their duties would face consequences.
During a progress review meeting at Haveri municipality hall on Monday, he discussed the current state of office administration. He directed officials to respond to issue-related calls, conduct site visits, and collaborate effectively to deliver public services.
The minister expressed dissatisfaction with officials for inadequate reporting on tax collection, shop rentals, and sanctioned posts. He questioned the incomplete information regarding shops, municipal assets, and tax collection, stressing the importance of responsible duty performance.
The EST manager should monitor office operations, and appropriate action should be taken against underperforming staff, including bill collectors. He indicated that while there was an opportunity for improvement, future negligence will result in disciplinary measures. "An investigation into the Rs 33 crore UGD project implementation will be conducted, with those responsible facing disciplinary action," the minister warned.
Various concerns were raised, including 24X7 water supply, sewer maintenance, pump repairs, shop auctions, waste management, staff negligence, UGD project issues, financial constraints, road damage from gas pipelines, poor tax collection, and staff absenteeism. Municipality members, including Sanjeevkumar Neeralagi, Belavadi, Shivayogi Hulikantimath, Venkatesh Pujar, and Ashraya committee members, requested to address these issues and appointing a permanent commissioner.
The minister acknowledged these concerns and confirmed that the meeting aimed to resolve these matters and improve administration. He assured priority for appointing a permanent commissioner.
CMC president Shashikala Ramu Malagi, vice president Mallikarjun Satenahalli, deputy commissioner Dr Vijaymahantesh Danammanavar, and sub-divisional officer Chennappa participated in the meeting.
