Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday said the Congress govt is looking at Naxalism (Maoists) mainly from a social perspective and does not consider it a law and order issue.
He made the Congress govt's stand on Maoists clear during a meeting with the members of the Peace Talks committee at his residence. The committee appealed to CM Revanth to take the initiative to facilitate a dialogue between the central govt and Maoists. The committee, headed by its convenor Justice Chandrakumar and comprising professors Haragopal and Anwar Khan, along with Ravi Chander, Jampanna, and Durga Prasad, submitted a memorandum to the CM urging him to convince the centre for a ceasefire.
The CM told the committee that the Congress govt would seek advice and suggestions from senior leader K Jana Reddy, who has past experience in dialogue with the Maoists. The state cabinet will also discuss the issue and make a decision soon, he said.
