Hyderabad police book influencers for promoting illegal betting apps

Panjagutta police have registered a case against several social media influencers for promoting online betting apps, following a complaint by activist Vinay Vangala. Senior IPS officer VC Sajjanar's campaign against illegal betting apps has gained significant support from the public and influencers.

HYDERABAD: Panjagutta police registered a case against social media influencers Imran Khan, Vishnupriya, Harsha Sai, Shyamala, Rithu Chowdhary, Bandaru Sheshayani Supritha, and others for allegedly promoting online betting apps. Police initiated action on a complaint from activist Vinay Vangala.
Vangala alleged that these influencers are promoting illegal gambling and betting activities, in direct violation of the law. Vangala also called for measures to prevent the use of such illegal platform.
It may also be noted that TGRTC MD and senior IPS VC Sajjanar has taken an online campaign against these betting apps operating illegally and called for stringent action against the organisers.
His #SayNoToBettingApps campaign has gained support from influencers and netizens.
