Indore: Namli police in Ratlam district foiled a petrol pump robbery plan by busting an inter-state gang involved in criminal activities.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested one of the accused and recovered a country-made pistol along with other weapons and a vehicle. The operation was carried out under the directives of SP Amit Kumar, who instructed heightened vigilance and patrolling in the area to prevent criminal activities.
On Saturday, Namli police received information about seven individuals planning to loot a petrol pump near B-Mart along Namli-Jaora four-lane road. Responding swiftly, a police team reached the spot and spotted a suspicious vehicle with seven individuals inside, allegedly plotting a robbery. As the police closed in, the suspects attempted to flee. One of them, identified as Sonulal (19), a resident of Tokda village in Jhalawar district of Rajasthan, was arrested. The remaining six managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
A loaded country-made pistol with a live round, an iron crowbar, a metal rod, and a wooden stick were recovered from the vehicle. The police also seized a vehicle estimated to be worth Rs 9 lakh. The total value of the seized items is approximately Rs 9.1 lakh.
During questioning, Sonulal confessed that he and his associates — Naresh, Tufan, Rajan, Sunil, Rohit, and Mahipal, all residents of Tokda village in Jhalawar, Rajasthan — were planning the robbery together. A case under sections 310(4), 310(5), and 310(6) of the BNS, along with the Arms Act, was registered against them, and further investigation is on.
The police are searching for the absconding accused.
