Ujjain. Body of a young man found in the Kshipra river on Tuesday evening was identified as that of a transport businessman from
Mandsaur who had come to Ujjain with his friends for a visit. His family had filed a missing person report after he had failed to return home.
On Wednesday morning, after the deceased's family arrived in Ujjain, the police confirmed the identity of the body and conducted a postmortem examination.
The body was spotted in the Kshipra river near Ramghat, a short distance from the Hathiwala Panda area, on Tuesday evening by locals who then informed the police. The body was retrieved, and the deceased was found wearing only underwear, suggesting he may have drowned while bathing. The police tried to look for his clothes at the ghat but found none. The locals could not identify the body suggesting he may have come here from outside.
The police then began gathering information on missing persons and found that Kapil, 31, of Chakra Colony in Mandsaur had come to Ujjain for a visit and had not returned. His family had reported him missing at Mandsaur police station. Mahakal police sent a photo of the deceased to Mandsaur police, and he was identified as Kapil Garg.
Mahakal police station CSP Rahul Deshmukh said that a case has been registered, and a postmortem examination has been conducted. The cause of death would become clear once the report was available.
