Bhilwara: Bhilwara observed a total bandh Monday over minor girls' exploitation in Beawar's Bijaynagar and gang rapes in Kotwali and Pratapnagar police station areas of the city. The Bhilwara SP continuously monitored the situation via CCTV camera from the Abhay Command Centre.
Considering the shutdown, district collector Jasmeet Singh Sandhu appointed executive magistrates, and the Bhilwara SP Dharmendra Singh Yadav deployed police forces at various locations to stop any untoward incidences. People gathered at Shri Guest House Square in the city and later held meeting at the Information Centre Square. President of Rajasthan Saint Society and Mahamandaleshwar Mahant Hansaram, along with Mewar's Mahamandaleshwar Hiteshanand Maharaj addressed the meeting. They demanded CBI investigation into the case and suggested demolishing the culprits' houses if they do not have ownership. They also offered to provide a bulldozer to the govt if needed.
A meeting was held to appeal for a peaceful shutdown, and city's sensitive areas were monitored via drones. During the shutdown, 500 police personnel were deployed, and senior police officers were stationed in the field.
A memorandum was earlier submitted to the district administration and a request to CM was made to give harshest punishment to the culprits, and a CBI investigation to fully unearth the matter.
