Rajasthan to sizzle at 45-46°C from April 14

Western Rajasthan is bracing for a heatwave starting April 14, with temperatures expected to soar to 45-46°C in border districts. The IMD warns that the heatwave will intensify on April 15 and 16, particularly in Jodhpur, Bikaner, and the Shekhawati region.

JAIPUR: A fresh heatwave spell is expected to grip western Rajasthan starting April 14, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning of rising temperatures and dry weather across the state.
According to the IMD, the heatwave will intensify on April 15 and 16, particularly in the border districts, where maximum temperatures could soar to 45-46°C. Parts of Jodhpur, Bikaner, and the Shekhawati region are likely to experience severe heatwave conditions on April 16.
The weather office said temperatures in Jaisalmer are expected to rise by 3-4°C, reaching around 44-45°C by April 15. From Sunday onwards, the entire state is expected to remain dry.
On Saturday, isolated thunderstorms and light rain have been forecast in Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, and Kota divisions. Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions may witness sporadic rainfall.
On Friday, Kota recorded the highest maximum temperature at 42.5°C — 3.7°C above the seasonal average. Meanwhile, the lowest minimum temperature was reported in Sangaria (Hanumangarh) at 15.7°C.
In the past 24 hours, several parts of Rajasthan witnessed light showers accompanied by thunderstorms. The highest rainfall was reported in Bahadurpur (Alwar) at 29 mm. Other notable rainfall figures include 20 mm in Khinvsar (Nagaur), 15 mm in Bhopalsagar (Chittorgarh), 14 mm in Deeg, and 12.4 mm in Alwar.
Mandawar and Kishangarh Bas (Alwar) registered 11 mm each, while Luni (Jodhpur) and Bhadra (Hanumangarh) logged 10 mm of rain.
