NEW DELHI: A high alert was issued across the border districts of Rajasthan on Saturday following potential threats of Pakistani strikes, officials said.
Authorities in various districts, along with police personnel, have advised residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary movement.
According to news agency, ANI, in Barmer, warning sirens were sounded to alert the public to the gravity of the situation. Police teams ramped up patrolling efforts, while announcements were made via police vehicles and public address systems to keep residents informed about the alert.
As a precaution, markets in Barmer and Jaisalmer were shut down.
A similar state of alert was observed in the districts of Bikaner and Sri Ganganagar, where security measures were also heightened.
On Friday night, multiple drone attacks were attempted by Pakistan in Jaisalmer and Barmer districts. However, Indian defence forces successfully intercepted and neutralized the drones mid-air.
Debris believed to be from these suspected drones was recovered from various sites across Barmer and Jaisalmer on Saturday morning.
