Jhansi: Yash Pratap Singh of Jalaun district topped the UP Board high school with 97.83%. The results of UP Board Class 10 and 12 were declared on Friday,
Three more students—all girls from the same district—secured places in the top ten state toppers, ranking third, sixth, and tenth. All the toppers are from Late Smt Raskendri Devi Inter College in Umri, a Nagar Panchayat with a population of 14,000, at 25km from the district headquarters.
Simran Gupta ranked third with 97.50%; Shivani Tiwari bagged sixth rank with 97%; and Riya was tenth with a score of 96.33%.
Yash aims to join the Indian Police Services (IPS) and chose Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in grade XI. "I wish to join IPS and will be preparing for the same," said Yash to TOI over the phone.
His father, Vinay Kumar Singh, who is also the principal of his school, expressed his delight on announcing the results: not only did his son top, but three other students made it to the state's top ten. Simran Gupta shared her aspiration to crack IIT JEE after completing XII. Her father, a businessman, said he was very proud of his daughter. Likewise, Shivani, daughter of a farmer, also hopes to pursue engineering after XII.
Speaking to TOI, school chairman Raja Bhadauriya stated that the school aimed to provide quality education to children from rural area.
