Body found in water tank in Kerala's Malappuram

Fathima, a 45-year-old woman from Athipatta, was discovered deceased inside a water tank at a Valanchery house on Sunday. The body was found by a caretaker who was feeding tortoises in the tank. Police reported that Fathima had been missing since morning and had been dealing with mental health issues, with no initial signs of foul play detected.

KOCHI: A woman was found dead inside a water tank on the premises of a house in Valanchery in Malappuram on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Fathima, 45, of Athipatta. Police said the woman lived near the location where the body was found.
According to police, the owner of the house where the body was found was not staying there. A man responsible for watering the trees in the compound, who was also rearing tortoises in the water tank, discovered the body when he checked the tank to feed the tortoises. The woman went missing in the morning, and the body was found within a few hours, said police.
Police said the woman was facing mental health issues, and prima facie, there was no foul play. The body was moved to Manjeri medical college for an autopsy. Valanchery Police have registered a case of unnatural death. Body would be handed over to the kin after the autopsy on Monday, said police.
