Yogi Adityanath's zero-tolerance policy towards crime dealt a severe blow to criminals across UP, as the police launched 10 focused campaigns as part of Mission Shakti Phase-5, titled ‘Das Ka Dum'. This led to legal action against over one lakh offenders and the elimination of 227 hardened criminals in encounters in eight years, officials said.
DGP Prashant Kumar said that the ‘Das Ka Dum' initiative, launched in line with the CM's vision under Mission Shakti Phase-5, became a nightmare for criminals. The campaign focused on women and child safety, cybercrime, trafficking, narcotics and public security. Legal action was initiated against more than 100,000 individuals during the statewide operation.
Operation Trinetra stood out for its role in detecting heinous crimes. Under this, 11,07,782 CCTV cameras were installed at sensitive locations and integrated with police stations. This real-time surveillance enabled swift action on criminals, detecting 5,718 major crimes.
Operation Majnu aimed at tackling eve-teasing and harassment near educational institutions. A total of 58,624 individuals were prosecuted at 7,554 identified hotspots.
Operation Eagle tracked criminals recently released from jail for crimes against women. Out of 7,963 such individuals, 5,166 were re-identified, 2,683 arrested and 4,294 chargesheets were filed.
Operation Garuda focused on cybercrimes targeting women and children. It reviewed 2,597 FIRs, resolving 2,407, arresting 498 accused and filing 405 chargesheets.
Operation Raksha targeted illegal activities disguised within spa centres and massage parlours. Police rescued 56 women and minors from trafficking networks and rehabilitated 49.
Under Operation Bachpan, aimed at eliminating child labour and begging, police rescued 2,860 children and initiated legal action in 1,207 cases. Operation Khoj traced 3,327 missing children from railway stations, bus stands and shelters, and reunited or rehabilitated them.
Operation Shield inspected 29,773 acid retailers, taking action against 725. Operation Destroy clamped down on obscenity, resulting in 748 cases related to vulgar content and materials. Operation Nasha Mukti focused on narcotics, identifying 4,750 hotspots, lodging 2,752 FIRs and taking action against 33,391 individuals.
