Ensure robust security in temples, religious processions: DGP to cops
Lucknow: In view of the ongoing festive season, director general of police Prashant Kumar as directed senior police officials to ensure robust security arrangements and deployment of adequate security at temples and during processions.
"Police arrangements should be meticulously planned for immersion processions of Durga idols, using a box formation to secure the processions on all sides.

All security personnel must be briefed by designated officers. Due to expected crowd of women and children, sufficient men and women personnel must be deployed at temples and surrounding routes. The Anti-Romeo Squad should also remain active," the DPG said.
He added that during the immersion of idols, barricades should be placed at riverbanks and lakes, and local divers, water police, and flood relief PAC should be deployed.
"Proper lighting should be ensured, and fire safety arrangements be made at effigy burning sites, after discussions with organizers. Continuous monitoring and security are necessary at railway stations, bus stations, markets, and other crowded areas," he added.
"Meetings should be held with event organizers, local magistrates, and officials from various departments to address potential issues. A thorough check of festival registers at police stations should be conducted, and lists of antisocial elements should be updated," the DGP said.
He said that officers should remain vigilant regarding the activities of anti-social elements and should monitor social media to counter false information.
