Lucknow:
Samajwadi Party national president
Akhilesh Yadav on Monday said people hailing from dominant castes in government have joined hands with the Uttar Pradesh Police to execute caste-based murders.
"The nexus of Satta Sajatiya (dominant caste in government) and UP Police is getting individuals murdered on the basis of caste. For this security provided to individuals is being withdrawn first as part of a conspiracy. Those in the government are of the view that such things will neither be probed nor will anyone be arrested. The chief minister should now admit that criminals are ruling the roost in Uttar Pradesh," Akhilesh said in a statement issued on Monday.
Akhilesh said there was ample evidence available with the police against those responsible for the murder, but the government lacks administrative will to initiate action against them.
Akhilesh's allegations came in reference to a murder in Chandauli in which a transporter Rajkumar Yadav alias Muttan was shot dead at the bus stand in full public view around 4 pm on Thursday. Rajkumar was provided with police protection for the last seven months, but it was withdrawn barely a couple of weeks before he was shot dead. He had five criminal cases pending against him. He was also allegedly involved in the murder of one Rajan Singh seven years ago at the same spot. Rajkumar's murder is being widely seen as a sequel to Rajan Singh's killing.
Samajwadi Party, led by its national president Akhilesh Yadav, has come in open support of Rajkumar Yadav's family in pointing fingers at the BJP government for the killing. The family said the fact that police protection was given to Rajkumar explains that there was a threat to his life. "That he was murdered a few weeks after his police protection was withdrawn, leaves little room for doubt that murder was a result of a well-planned conspiracy," said Udai Narain, brother of Rajkumar.
Cow dung pain BJP's new feat: Akhilesh
Lucknow: Citing the chief minister's recent directives where he said cow dung-based paint should be used for government buildings, Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday described the announcement as "BJP's new feat".
"Gobarnama: BJP government's new feat," Akhilesh posted on X in Hindi with a poster of the CM with a quote "cow dung-based paint should be used in government buildings" – attributed to him. This was in apparent reference to CM's directives issued on Sunday where he asked officials to take concrete steps to make the cow protection centres in Uttar Pradesh self-reliant, and pressed upon the use of cow dung-based paint in government buildings.
