Uttar Pradesh declares state-wide red alert following 'Operation Sindoor' in Pakistan and PoK

LUCKNOW: A state-wide red alert has been declared in Uttar Pradesh following 'Operation Sindoor' in which the armed forces targeted terror hideouts and launch pads in mainland Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. In response to the heightened threat perception, all field units of the Uttar Pradesh Police have been directed to coordinate closely with defence forces and bolster security around vital installations.DGP Prashant Kumar stated that its personnel remain alert, fully equipped, and prepared to ensure the safety of every citizen across the state.Security arrangements have been scaled up at all vital installations including airports, railway stations, government buildings, religious places, and crowded public areas. Intensive checking drives have been launched at state borders, toll plazas, and highway checkpoints. Bomb disposal squads, dog squads, and anti-sabotage teams have been mobilised.Top officials, including DGP Prashant Kumar, are said to be monitoring the situation round-the-clock through a central control room. The UP Police has assured that forces are fully prepared, alert, and equipped to handle any threat and maintain law and order across the state.Kumar said security has been intensified along the India-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh. Agencies including the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), state police, and forest department have launched coordinated patrols across sensitive areas.Joint patrols are being conducted twice a day and once at night in locations such as the No Man’s Land, Sohilwa Wildlife Sanctuary, and various footpaths leading through forested regions.Security personnel are carrying out thorough identity checks, verifying Aadhaar cards, and inspecting vehicles and luggage at key border outposts.At the Koilabas border post in Balrampur, sniffer dogs and bomb detection equipment are being deployed.Forest Ranger Prabhat Verma confirmed that forest personnel are maintaining round-the-clock patrols in the jungle areas to ensure no infiltration or illegal activity.In Gonda, authorities were preparing to conduct a mock drill on Wednesday evening to train civilians and cadets in emergency response measures in case of an attack.The drill will take place at Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Inter College with participation from NCC cadets, departmental officials, and disaster management experts.ADM Alok Kumar confirmed that all preparations for the drill have been finalised. Disaster expert Rajesh Srivastava said the session aims to educate people on essential safety measures during emergency situations.
