Mumbai: The
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority(MMRTA), in its latest meeting, announced the setting up of a dedicated helpline for commuters of autos, taxis, and app-based cabs such as Ola and Uber across the Mumbai region.The MMRTA minutes mentioned: "To redress complaints of riders of autorickshaws, taxis, private cabs, etc., the transport department was given approval to set up a dedicated toll-free helpline—1800 220 110. This will assist hundreds of passengers travelling by public transport with grievances such as fare refusals, rude behaviour, excess fare, transportation of an excess number of passengers, etc."The MMRTA also extended the date for recalibration of auto-taxi meters to May 31. Action will be taken from June 1 against drivers of autos-taxis whose meters are not recalibrated.
