NEW DELHI: A jeweller went on a rampage and stabbed five people, including his in-laws and father, after a dispute with his wife in east Delhi's Mansarovar Park. The incident occurred on Tuesday when the jeweller's in-laws and other family members were discussing their marital dispute.The jeweller suddenly picked up a knife and began stabbing them. The accused then fled the scene.The injured individuals were identified as Sonam Verma, her brothers Pinkle Verma and Rahul Soni, Soni's driver Mohit Sharma, and the accused's father, Dinesh Chandra Verma.According to a senior police officer, the incident unfolded when Sonam's family visited her in-laws to discuss the issues plaguing the couple's relationship. The discussion took place at Aman Verma's jewellery shop on Mandoli Road. However, the situation rapidly deteriorated as heated words were exchanged. In a shocking turn of events, Aman brought a knife from his residence and launched an attack on all the individuals present in the shop.All the five injured people are receiving medical treatment.Following the attack, Sonam filed a formal complaint with police, accusing her husband of attempting to murder her and the others.
A case was registered under Section 109(1) (attempted murder) of the BNS, which pertains to attempted murder, in addition to other relevant sections related to dowry.Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances that led to the violent outburst. Multiple teams have been formed to apprehend the jeweller. CCTV footage from various locations are being scanned to trace the routes taken by the suspect while fleeing.
