Director-actor Ambone to get lifetime achievement award
Nagpur: The Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad, Nagpur branch, announced its annual awards on Saturday.
The awards will be distributed on the occasion of its Foundation Day, which will be celebrated on Monday, April 14, at 5pm at the Shrimant Baburao Dhanwate Sabhagruha, Shankar Nagar Square.
Renowned author and former President of the Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, Dr Ravindra Shobhane, will preside over the event, while Shrimant Raje Mudhoji Bhosale will present the awards.
This year, the Lifetime Achievement Award will be conferred upon senior director and actor Prabhakar Ambone, who has dedicated his entire life to theatre. The award will include a shawl, coconut, bouquet, memento, certificate, and a cash prize. Ambhore recently celebrated his 75th birthday.
The other awardees are Kishor Ailwar (Senior Theatre Artist Award), Seema Godbole (Best Theatre Artist Award), Roshan Nandwanshi (Rangseva, service to theatre Award), Prof Rajkumar Musane, Gadchiroli, (Drama Critic Award), Chandrakant Chaudhary (Best Playwright Award), and Sunil Titre (Best Rangadharmi, Theatre Practitioner Award).
Ragini Bidkar and Santosh Varpalliwad, alias Santosh Kumar, will receive the Senior Artist Award in Zhadipatti Theatre.
In addition, several artists who excelled in the Maharashtra State Amateur Marathi Drama Competition 2024-25 will also be felicitated, including Bhavana Chaudhary (Best Actress), Yashwant Chopde (Best Actor and Director), Pranav Kore (Best Lighting Design), and Asidhara Lanjewar (Best Stage Design).
Artists who received awards in the final round of the Hindi State Drama Competition — Punyashil Lambat, Rashmi Lande, Roshni Selokar, Sakshi Naigaonkar, Akshay Gulhane, Manish Chaudhary — and Venkatesh Makde, who won the silver medal in the final round of the children's drama competition, will also be honoured.
