Noida: A 37-year-old woman out for a morning walk suffered severe spinal injuries after being attacked by a pet dog inside Ecovillage-1 in Greater Noida on Monday. The pet's owner was arrested after the incident, captured on CCTV cameras and widely circulated on social media, led to an outpour about increasing dog bite cases in residential complexes.According to police, Mandira Mitra's dog allegedly lunged at Syed Athar, causing her to fall from an elevated area in the society compound. The victim's husband, Munib Ul Irfan Khatib, filed a complaint at Bisrakh police on Monday, claiming that his wife was attacked without provocation, causing her to fall and resulting in a fractured spine and loss of function in both legs.Footage from CCTV cameras was shared on X, showing the victim walking along a raised pathway when Mitra and her dog approach her from the opposite direction. The dog suddenly jumps at Athar, causing her to lose balance and fall into the bushes below.Following the complaint, a case was registered under sections 291 (Negligent conduct with respect to animal) and 125(a) (Act endangering life or personal safety of others) of BNS, and the dog owner was taken into custody.
