Patna: Surya Kiran, the famed nine-aircraft aerobatic team, and Akash Ganga, the equally adept skydiving display group of the
Indian Air Force (IAF) presented a spectacular show during the dress rehearsal of their air show here along JP Ganga Path on Tuesday. The main event will be held on Wednesday on the occasion of Shaurya Diwas, which is celebrated to commemorate Babu Veer Kunwar Singh's victory over British during 1857 revolt.
CM Nitish Kumar is also expected to attend the main air show that is being held for the first time in the state.
The stunning dress rehearsal was performed by the teams in presence of local residents, including a huge crowd of enthusiastic school children, who were all praise for the IAF's aerobatics and skydiving teams.
The event began with Akash Ganga team's magnificent skydiving performances for the first 15 minutes when the members of the group descended on ground smoothly in a free fall with the help of parachutes, which is the expertise of the team.
The main air show was conducted by the Surya Kiran team, which specialises in breathtaking aerobatics performances mid-air.
The final event will be held between 10am and 11.5am on Wednesday when the same performances in a similar sequence will be held. After the first few minutes of performance by the Akash Ganga skydivers, Surya Kiran Aerobatics Team will display various formation sets in sky, displaying perfect synchronisation and coordination among the nine planes and their pilots.
Meanwhile, the district administration has taken various precautionary measures in view of the two-day IAF's aerial show. Patna traffic police also introduced changes in vehicular routes along the stretches leading to the JP Ganga Path for the two-day aerial event. Like Tuesday, the traffic diversion will remain effective from 6am to noon on Wednesday as well.
