Man kills woman, her mother before shooting self in Nalanda

Biharsharif: A man shot dead a woman, just days before her marriage, in Nalanda district on Wednesday night. Manish Kumar, a resident of village Chandi Mau under Silao police station area, also killed the woman's mother, before shooting himself in head.
According to police, the accused stormed the house of Shailendra Ram at Silao's Singh Colony, brandishing a pistol around 8pm on Wednesday. He first shot at 45-year-old wife Putus Devi and then her 20-year-old daughter Poonam Kumari, who was scheduled to get married on April 28.
Nalanda superintendent of police (SP) Bharat Soni, who visited the place of crime, said the mother-daughter duo succumbed to their injuries before being taken to hospital. The accused succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a higher medical centre late on Wednesday night.
Asked about the possible intention behind the crime, SP Soni said the accused was a friend of Poonam's brother, and often visited their home. "An investigation has been launched, which will reveal the actual reason behind the crime. The pistol used in the crime has been recovered with two live and three used cartridges."
