Ara: Bhojpur superintendent of police (SP) Raj has suspended a sub-inspector (SI) after a purported audio of him asking for money to "manage a case" went viral on various social media platforms in the district.
The SP said in a statement on Wednesday that they got an audio clip from social media platforms on April 7, in which SI Shashi Bhushan Singh, posted at Gidha police station, was purportedly talking to a middleman, asking him to keep his word and make the payment on time.
The SP then ordered Sadar subdivisional police officer-II Ranjit Kumar Singh to verify the audio and probe the veracity of the charges against the SI. "After the investigation, the charges against the SI were proved to be true. He was found guilty of asking for bribe. Hence, the SI has been suspended and further official proceedings is being initiated against him," said the SP.
The police are now trying to zero in on the middleman who is reported to be associated with a political party.
