Gandey: Gandey MLA Kalpana Soren inaugurated a nine-day eye check-up and surgery camp at the community health centre (CHC) in her constituency on Wednesday. The needy will undergo free procedures at the camp, its organizers said.
The camp was organised as a collaborative initiative between Shankar Netralaya and Bokaro Old Xaverians Alumni Trust (BOXA). The success of the camp was attributed to US-based C U Venkateshwara, Shantha Venkataraman, and Kannan Venkataraman.
Their commitment to humanitarian causes and their notably remarkable financial contributions have been instrumental in making this service camp a reality. Their involvement was acknowledged by trust chairman Arvind Chopra as a shining example of global citizenship and compassion.
The vital role played by the alumni trust was a focal point of the event. The leadership of founder Arvind Chopra, the dynamic guidance of president Mahesh Kumar Gupta, and the dedicated efforts of core members including Tej Bahadur Singh, Rajan Jain, Avinash, Basant, Apoorv, Anmol, Arun Singh, Anita, Anjali Singh, Alka Minz, Jagdish, and others were also appreciated.
The Trust has long been active in the spheres of healthcare, education, and social service. A dedicated team of eye specialists, equipped with advanced diagnostic tools and driven by a service-oriented ethos, has been brought in, the organizers said.
