Kalwa police have apprehended three individuals involved in a robbery where a fruit seller was robbed of Rs 13 lakh after being threatened with a toy gun on April 12, 2025.
THANE: Kalwa police arrested three persons involved in a robbery case where a fruit seller was threatened with a toy gun and robbed of Rs 13 lakh.
According to police, the incident occurred on April 12, 2025, when the victim, Riyaz Ibrahim Pathan (51), was travelling by auto-rickshaw from Bhiwandi to Vashi.
The police said around 10:10 AM, while passing near RMC Plant in Kalwa, Thane, four assailants on motorcycles chased down Pathan's auto-rickshaw and forced it to stop on a deserted road leading from Kharegaon toll plaza toward Mumbra. "The attackers threatened the victim with what appeared to be a revolver and a knife before making off with Rs 13 lakh in cash. During probe it was found that they used a toy gun," said the police officer.
Following the complaint, Kalwa Police Station registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A special investigation team was formed, which analysed over 100 CCTV footage clips from the surrounding areas and gathered intelligence through informants.

The arrested suspects include Faizanali Abdul Sattar Ansari (41), employed at a loom factory in Bhiwandi, Vivek Vilas Waghmode (22), and Mayur Rajendra Patil (22), both from Wada, Palghar, informed a police officer.
The police said they have recovered Rs 5.25 lakh in cash and two motorcycles valued at around Rs 1.60 lakh used in the crime.
The investigation revealed that a total of five persons conspired in the robbery, and police are continuing their search for the remaining suspects and they are trying to track them.
