Man arrested with 23 grams of MDMA in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: Police arrested a 33-year-old man with 23g of MDMA during a routine patrol near Puthenpalam Junction on Wednesday night.Police identified the arrested person as Nahas, 33, of Puthenpalam near Vallakadavu.The accused was remanded after being produced before a court on a charge under Section 22 (C) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act-1985.Police said the accused was a drug peddler and was waiting for customers at the junction. Seeing the police jeep, Nahas tried to escape from there, which evoked suspicion among the police. During checking, police found the drug kept in small plastic covers in his bag.The accused told police that the drug was bought from Bengaluru for sale here. Police seized his mobile phone and are checking his call details and chats.
