VIJAYAWADA: Extreme weather events claimed approximately 50 lives in Andhra Pradesh in 2024, the warmest year on record in India, according to the IMD. Floods and heavy rains caused the highest number of fatalities in the state, followed by lightning and thunderstorms.
The weather agency has predicted above-normal rainfall in parts of Andhra Pradesh for March 2025.
The state experienced 22 heatwave days in 2023, which rose to 27 in 2024.
