VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) issued an official notification regarding the direct recruitment for Group-II services. The recruitment process includes both general and limited categories and follows the state govt's reservation policies.
According to the notification, the horizontal reservation for women, persons with benchmark disabilities (PBDs), ex-servicemen, and meritorious sports persons (MSPs) within vertical reservation categories — such as OC, BC (A, B, C, D, E), SC, ST, and EWS — was determined based on the general guidelines specified under Rule 22-B and Rule 22-A of the Andhra Pradesh State and Subordinate Service Rules, 1996. These guidelines were last amended through a govt order, dated August 2, 2023.
If eligible candidates are not available in the horizontal reservation categories, those vacancies will be filled as per the stipulated rules. In cases where an inadequacy of women candidates is observed within horizontal reservation categories, eligible women candidates will be given priority based on merit. If no suitable female candidates are available, these vacancies will be allotted to eligible male candidates based on merit.
Male candidates from SC, ST, BC, EWS, and General categories may submit their options against the vacancies originally reserved for women, PBDs, ex-servicemen, and MSPs within their respective category. For General Category (OC) vacancies, all communities are eligible to apply.
Candidates are required to submit their post and zonal/district preferences via the official APPSC website (
between March 4 and March 10. The commission urged all applicants to ensure timely submission to avoid last-minute technical issues.
