The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has cancelled the class 10 board exams for Hindi (Course A and Course B) that took place on February 18, 2025 and the Science exam, held today, on February 20, 2025.
In an official notice released today, the Council announced the cancellation of the papers and stated that new dates for the re-examination will be provided at a later time.
The official notice reads, "This is to inform all students, parents, concerned principals, center superintendents, and relevant officials regarding the Annual Secondary Examination 2025 that, in light of the information received through viral social media posts and newspapers, the Hindi (Course A & Course B) exam held on 18.02.2025 in the first shift and the Science exam held on 20.02.2025 in the first shift have been canceled. Local media reports indicate that the controversy began when JAC Chairman disclosed that the question paper packet, unsealed on the morning of the exam day, matched a version that had already circulated on social media. Reportedly, JAC officials compared the leaked paper with the original and confirmed the breach, prompting immediate action to address the situation.
The incident has raised concerns over the ongoing JAC board exams, which began on February 11, 2025. On February 18, student leader Devendra Mahato had earlier flagged suspicions regarding the Hindi question paper leak, alleging that it had surfaced online hours before the exam, according to a media report. Mahato met JAC Secretary Jayant Mishra, presenting evidence of the Science paper being shared on WhatsApp and calling for urgent intervention.
