GUNTUR: Former director of IIIT, Allahabad (Prayagraj), Professor P Nagabhushan assumed charge as vice-chancellor of Vignan university here on Monday. He is the fifth vice-chancellor of the university.
Speaking to the media, Dr Nagabhushan said that they would continue the focus on research and academics. He said that they would make Vignan university one of the premier institutions in the country.
He assured to be available to the students and the faculty members to discuss any of their grievances. Vignan educational institutions chairman Dr Lavu Rathaiah congratulated the new vice-chancellor.
Professor Nagabhushan served as mentor-director at Lucknow IIT, nodal officer for Centre for Information Technology and Science at university of Mysore. He launched a high-performance cloud computing Centre in IIIT, Prayagraj. He was chiefly responsible for introduction of choice-based credit linked continuous assessment and awards at all three-levels-UG, PG and PHD. He introduced three-semesters including one summer semester instead of two semesters per year.
Vignan university chancellor Dr K Rammurthy Naidu, former UGC chairman Dr Devaraj, Andhra University vice-chancellor Dr Prasada Reddy, Singapore NTU president's office executive director BVR Chowdary and senior faculty members congratulated the new vice-chancellor.
