Saswata Chatterjee has been making waves with his recent projects, including the much-anticipated film 'Kalki 2898 AD' directed by
Nag Ashwin. In this mega-starrer mythology-inspired sci-fi flick, Saswata's transformation left audiences astounded when the teaser was unveiled. His co-stars in the movie include A-listers like
Deepika Padukone,
Kamal Haasan,
Amitabh Bachchan, and
Prabhas, highlighting the grandeur of the project.
Recalling his initial days of shooting for 'Kalki 2898 AD' in Hyderabad, Saswata expressed his excitement. His introduction scene alone took three days to shoot, giving a glimpse of the monumental scale of the film. Saswata had the opportunity to work closely with Deepika Padukone, and he fondly remembered an endearing encounter with her during the shoot.
Saswata's daughter was a big fan of Deepika, and he mentioned this to the actress. Despite not having any scenes to shoot until 5 pm, Deepika displayed remarkable professionalism and was easygoing on set. She spent her time sharing laughter with her team near the makeup van. However, what touched Saswata deeply was what happened after the shoot.
As he was heading back to his hotel, Saswata received an envelope containing a black-and-white photograph of Deepika. She had personally addressed it to his daughter and even signed an autograph. This gesture reflected Deepika's sportsmanship spirit, considering her father is the renowned badminton icon Prakash Padukone. It was a moment that Saswata and his daughter would cherish.
Aside from his work in 'Kalki 2898 AD,' Saswata has been enjoying success in the Bengali web series 'Abar Proloy.' In this latest venture, he reprises his role as super cop Animesh Dutta in
Raj Chakraborty’s ‘Proloy’ franchise, a decade after the film's initial release. In 'Abar Proloy,' Saswata's character undergoes significant development, engaging in intense fight sequences, a departure from the original 'Proloy' in 2013.
Saswata acknowledged the growth of his fan base, particularly among fans of the 'Proloy' series, attributing it to the directors
Arindam Sil and Raj Chakraborty for providing him with opportunities to portray police officers in the 'Shabor' franchise and 'Abar Proloy.' His career continues to ascend, with a busy schedule and exciting projects on the horizon.
