The crew Birsa Dasgupta's next film, starring Mimi, Yash Dasgupta, Soumyajit Majumdar, among others, recently travelled to Istanbul to shoot for the film. The crew was even caught in the unrest in Turkey, even as the attempted coup in the country made headlines across the world. While caught up in the military coup, Birsa confirmed to CT that the entire team was safe in Istanbul and the shoot would resume from the next day. "We were shooting on Friday when we heard about the attack. Two scenes were left then, but we managed to finish them as the line producers were by our side.Immediately afterwards, we rushed back to the hotel in Beylikduzu, the Asian side of Istanbul, around 11 pm. From our hotel we could see thousands of common people on the streets, walking with flags and clapping. All cars were honking as a mark of protest," Birsa told us from Turkey. The crew had reached Turkey on July 7 and the shoot began on Monday. Soumyajit Majumdar, also part of the cast, said, "Bratyada and I came here only on Friday . We had planned to go to Bosphorus (where the coup took place) as we had a free evening and the unit was shooting. However, there was no transport and we couldn't go. Had we gone, God knows what would have happened. The local line production team came to stay with us, as the bridge (that connects Europe and Asia) was closed and they couldn't go back.We had a terrifying night amidst frantic calls from friends and family from India, who were watching the situation on television."
With the situation in control now, we can hope to see many more gorgeous pictures of Mimi from the sets!
