Actor
Joy Sengupta is finally back to the world of theatre. The actor, who has been busy in Kolkata for various Tollywood projects, has finally gone back to Mumbai and is concentrating on his stagecraft. “Currently I am busy with the revived version of Kanyadaan — a directorial work by Lilette Dubey . Written by
Vijay Tendulkar, she first staged it in 2009 with
Radhika Apte,
Rajendra Gupta, Lilette and I in the lead role. But the production stopped as some of the actors, including Radhika, got busy. We revived it again for the Theatre Olympics. Since then, we have been performing it at various venues,” the actor said. While Joy and Rajendra are still working in the production from the old cast, many others have been replaced by new actors.
So when will Joy be back in the city? “Soon. Some of the projects were postponed from June to later next month. I’ll be back in Kolkata as soon as I get the dates,” the actor added.
